Just thought I'd let you know that I laughed out loud at this one.
And since it's me commenting... Would you agree that this follows the "Set up - beat- punchline" construction?
Absolutely, I'd agree. This is one of those rare occasions where life just kind of fell into that kind of cadence. This strip happened pretty much verbatim (complete with "beat").
Writing these blog strips, I've come to view that formula as kind of a crutch. Its surprisingly easy to "massage" the rhythm of an event too much toward that end. I've ruined several good strips trying to avoid it.
There's no other way this one would've worked, though.
